Does the Bible Teach Free Will? Jesse Morrell

A “reformed” woman just told me on My Facebook that she is:

“a Christian who actually believes every word of the bible and btw there’s no such thing as people having free will only God according to scripture”

I wrote back:

Well, if you are a Christian who believes every word of the Bible, you should believe that God is Sovereign and in His Sovereignty He gives men free will or the liberty to choose between various open possibilities:

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life” (Deut. 30:19).

“Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death” (Jer. 21:8).

“Choose you this day whom ye will serve” (Josh. 24:15)

God is Sovereign and can give men a free will if He wants to. To complain about God giving men a free will is to reply against your maker. The clay cannot say to the potter, why have you made me thus?
