Why do you think God pleads with sinners in the Bible to make a decision?

2Co 5:20 – Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Why do you think the Apostles in Acts called sinners to make a decision?

Act 2:40 – And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

Why did Jesus tell sinners to make a decision?

Luk 9:23 – And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

God calls men to repentance and faith and rebukes and punished them if they don’t.

It is biblical to call men to make a decision to repent and believe the gospel.

It is the devil who doesn’t want us to call sinners to repentance.

  1. What would MacArthur have thought about John the Baptist, or Jesus Christ, pleading with sinners to flee from the wrath that’s to come?

  2. Zephyrin. says:

As a sinner I wanted to be free from pornography. At this time i made the choice to follow christ. But I discovered that I was not able to follow the scriptures(in fact this was Roman 7 in my life). But at God’s time, when he met with me, I was no longer in slave of pornography. So I agree with marcarthur when he says a sinner can not choose christ by himself. He needs God to obey God. (But i do believe that we have to call sinner to repent, and God will do the Job people’s heart).

  3. I guess by the typical standard MacArthur is guilty of “hyper-Calvinism” because he doesn’t believe in pleading with sinners and calling them to make a decision to repent.

  4. Jer 2:9 – Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children’s children will I plead.

  5. I have decided to follow Jesus

  6. God commands you to repent and He won’t do it for you. Jesus upbraided entire cities for their impenitence. God gave the woman in Revelation space to repent but she repented not. He tried to grant her repentance but she resisted and refused it. If Gods Will was always done, everyone would repent.

2Co 5:20 – Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

παρακαλέω parakaléō, par-ak-al-eh’-o; from G3844 and G2564; to call near, i.e. invite, invoke (by imploration, hortation or consolation):—beseech, call for, (be of good) comfort, desire, (give) exhort(-ation), intreat, pray.

δέομαι déomai, deh’-om-ahee; middle voice of G1210; to beg (as binding oneself), i.e. petition:—beseech, pray (to), make request.

God is calling and even begging sinners through us to be reconciled.
