I am tired of Calvinist’s applying Romans 3:10 to believers. They rip it out of context to say nobody can be righteous in this life. It is about unbelievers. Believers are righteous.
Rom 3:10 – As it is written, There is none righteous (δίκαιος), no, not one:
Luk 23:50 – And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just (δίκαιος)
1Jo 3:7 – Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous (δίκαιος), even as he is righteous (δίκαιος)
True believers are righteous.
Romans 3:10 in context is clearly talking about the unconverted, unbelievers. Read the context and tell me if this describes converted believers.
Rom 3:10 – As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11 = There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
Rom 3:12 – They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Rom 3:13 – Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
Rom 3:14 – Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
Rom 3:15 – Their feet are swift to shed blood:
Rom 3:16 – Destruction and misery are in their ways:
Rom 3:17 – And the way of peace have they not known:
Rom 3:18 – There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Can it be said of Christians that there is no fear of God before their eyes? Or that Christians do not know the way of peace? That Christians do not seek after God?
Clearly, this describes unbelievers or the unconverted world.
The Bible says that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God but believers have been made righteous (justified) by faith in Christ. The conclusion then is that true believers are righteous in heart and life by faith in Christ.
