NEW WINE – Unfermented Grape Juice?
The term “grape juice” isn’t in the Bible but “new wine” is.
Luk 5:37 – And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
The reason you don’t put new wine into old wine skins is because it hasn’t fermented yet. During the fermenting process, wine lets off gasses that would burst the old stiff wine skins.
New wine skins which can stretch is therefore used to store new wine.
γλεῦκος – New Wine: “sweet wine,” “fresh juice.”
Luk 5:39 – No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
New Wine: Grape Juice
Old Wine: Fermented Grape Juice
Grape juice is “the fruit of the vine” and is therefore properly called “wine.”
