MISSION TRIP: NEW YORK!

72572250_10156622390756765_351888148030029824_n

A New Yorker who watches my YouTube videos and loves them really wanted me to come to New York to minister in the area. It had been many years since I had preached in Northern New York so I was excited to go. After two flights, I was there!

SUNY Oswego (State University of New York in Oswego)

72304324_10156626332141765_7863505805197180928_n

It had been over ten years since I had preached at Suny Oswego. We always had a wild time on this campus. What was great is that they have a wide open “public square” in the middle of campus that is a perfect “free speech forum” for sharing the Gospel.

Oswego

It didn’t take long for me to get my first heckler, preaching on some hot button topics. And that heckler helped me draw an instant crowd! Before we knew it, I was surrounded by 300 students as I preached the gospel, shared my testimony, and gave Christian apologetics to their many questions.

oswego2

Too bad I didn’t get to preach that long before the Police arrived and demanded my papers. In years past this campus was wide open for free speech. You could show up and preach unannounced. But this time, they demanded that I go get a permit.

When I went to get a permit, they told me it was like a 10 day waiting period or something like that. That doesn’t work for a traveling evangelist on the go. So I had to find another campus to preach on. Not before the campus news crew showed up at the Permit Office to interview me about what just happened outside….

Reading the campus policy later, I realized that they have a special exemption for “spontaneous speech” that doesn’t require a permit. That’s what I should have claimed! Maybe next time. God used us on a different campus as a result.

JEFFERSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE

This was a small community college that I had never preached on before. The smaller community colleges often get ignored and neglected by the traveling evangelists who stay on the big campuses. However, Jesus sent his disciples out to preach in the cities and the villages. I figured, this is like a small village that needs to be stirred up with the Gospel.

72550249_10156632995956765_6563643861552332800_n

The first day that we went to campus, it was pouring rain. Rain doesn’t stop me from preaching. If I have an umbrella and the students have an umbrella, I can usually draw a crowd regardless of the rain. With my host home and a small group, we stood in the rain with umbrellas holding signs while I stood on a bench and preached. However, because this campus was so small, we couldn’t get anything going. There was no “big class change” at all. Usually just 1-3 people at a time walking from here to there.

However, the next day, I was able to get it going.

72648611_10156633677556765_2349613459013894144_n

When you have a campus that is pretty desolate, but you know there’s people inside the buildings, you sometimes just have to preach to a dead campus until slowly but surely a crowd forms. “If you preach it, they will come,” is what I tell myself. And sure enough, the crowds came. First you get 2 or 3 people, twenty minutes later another 5 people stop, forty five minutes into it you have 15-20 people, after two hours of preaching maybe a crowd of 30, etc. That’s how you do it on these smaller campuses. But you might have to preach the first 30 minutes to nobody. The key to success is don’t give up. Keep going.

Just like Suny Oswego, the campus security and administrators came out and tried to shut us down. I asked for their written free speech policy. They said they heard I was on Suny Oswego and got run off and that their policy is the same as their’s. I said Suny Oswego didn’t tell me I couldn’t preach. They have a free speech policy that allows for it. This put the administrators in a dilemma. I knew for a fact that this campus didn’t have any policy in writing, so there wasn’t anything they could do to stop me as long as I asked for the written policy. My strategy worked and they just stood helplessly by for hours as I preached to a large crowd of students, engaging in dialog back and forth about the Bible and the things of God.

It’s sad that today’s universities want to shut down open discussion and debate, especially about the things of God. These are supposed to be places of higher learning, a place for discourse and the exchanging of ideas! Sadly, they are run by liberal indoctrinators who want to build a godless anti-Christian society. It’s a good thing guys like me show up on campus!

My host held my camera the whole time and recorded these outreaches. Back at my host home, they had a large family gathering and they put the recordings on for everyone to watch. I think my host particularly wanted me to come to minister, not just to the surrounding area, but to the family. I was happy to do it.

VISITING AN OLD FRIEND

My friend Miles lives in Northern New York. My first time preaching on Suny Oswego back in 2006 was with him. In fact, he was one of my first preaching partners. He lived in my van with me when we were 20, traveling the country, preaching the gospel everywhere that we went. He was also in my wedding! It was nice to see him after all these years.

72489412_10156632794266765_189465034789748736_n

This is the view from his back deck. Not bad. He’s done well for himself with various businesses. But he told me, my visit with him was inspiring him to get back out there on the campuses! Lord, send the laborers!

2Co 5:8 – We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord

Phl 1:21-24 – For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

WHY GOD REJECTED CAIN’S SACRIFICE

Genesis 4:2-7:

4:2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Why wasn’t Cain’s sacrifice accepted?

God told him why:

Gen 4:7 – If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Cains sacrifice was not accepted because he was not doing well.

The Bible says:

Pro 15:8 – The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

Pro 21:27 – The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

The problem was that Cain was a wicked man who was not doing well. His sacrifice was therefore not acceptable to God.

Abel was a righteous man and therefore His sacrifice was acceptable:

1Jo 3:12 – Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous

Heb 11:4 – By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh

The Bible says:

Psa 51:17 – The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

All this goes to show that a sacrifice or atonement does not save an impenitent man. There are many who think they are covered by the atonement of Christ while they continue to sin every day. The atonement doesn’t work like that. That’s the error of Cain.

Jde 1:11 – Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain

The atonement is not unconditionally saving in its nature. Only those who are broken over their sin and forsake their sin are covered by the Atonement of Christ.

Pro 28:13 – He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

A BLOODLESS SACRIFICE?

The first theory I heard as to why his sacrifice was rejected was because Cain’s offering had no blood. But there were grain offerings in the Bible, corn offerings, flour offerings, along with gold, silver, brass, and wine:

Exo 30:13 – This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD

Exo 35:5 – Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass

Exo 35:22 – And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto the LORD.

Lev 9:4 – “a grain offering mixed with oil”

Lev 9:17 – Then he brought the grain offering, took a handful of it, and burned it on the altar, besides the burnt sacrifice of the morning.

Num 15:5 – “And the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering shalt thou prepare”

Num 28:28 – And their meat offering of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals unto one bullock, two tenth deals unto one ram,

Neh 10:39 – For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.

Bloodless sacrifices are acceptable but any sacrifice from a wicked man with a wicked heart is unacceptable and an abomination to God.

1Sa 15:22 – Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

If Cain had been a righteous man, instead of a wicked man, who did well, his offering would have been accepted.

Gen 4:7 – If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?

MORAL GOVERNMENT THEOLOGY CONFERENCE

Moral Government Theology teaches Christian Doctrines like the freedom of man’s will, the conditional nature of salvation, the Atonement of Christ that was made for all men, the drawing grace of God which can be resisted by man, the mandate and attainability of sanctification in this life, and the conditional security of the believer.

For many years I attended a Moral Government Theology Conference in Shipshewana Indiana, which had been an annual event for over twenty years – give or take. But a few years ago the conference was discontinued and so the need arose for a new moral government theology conference. I suggested to some friends that we host one in Lindale Texas and we successfully hosted the first one a little while ago.

MORAL GOVERNMENT THEOLOGY EXAMPLES

Jesus said that if a man does not abide in him, he is cast forth as a branch and burned. This is the conditional security of the believer. It is not enough to have said a prayer as a child. Being a Christian, aka following Christ, is a daily decision.

In John 15:6 Jesus uses the word μείνῃ for abide and it means continue. Jesus is saying, “if a man continue not in me…” He’s not talking about those who were never in Christ in the first place. He is talking about those who do not continue in Christ. Those who fall away from Christ become unfruitful branches that will ultimately be burned. That’s sound doctrine.

What did the atonement of Christ accomplish? The unconditional salvation of a few? No. The unconditional salvation of everyone? No. The atonement makes possible the conditional salvation of anyone – rendering the sins of unbelievers forgivable and the sins of believers actually forgiven.

The atonement accomplished the justification of God in the forgiveness of sin, according to Romans 3:24-26:

“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” Romans 3:24-26

The atonement of Christ is a substitute for the penalty of hell. As such, the atonement justifies God in the forgiveness of sin. God is justified in not punishing our sins, in remitting the penalty for our sins, because the atonement takes the place of penalty and accomplishes its governmental purposes. Christ died “that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” God justifies us by remitting our eternal damnation and He is justified in doing this because of the atonement of Christ. That’s good theology.

The prophet Ezekiel said the children do not bear the iniquity of the fathers, neither do the fathers bear the iniquities of their children, but the soul that sinneth it shall die (Ezekiel 18). Taking personal responsibility for your life, instead of blaming your sins upon others, is essential for true conviction and biblical conversion. That’s what confession and repentance is all about. A revival of free will doctrine is needed for a revival of biblical conversions. It was essential for my conversion that I stopped blaming my sins upon my father and taking personal responsibility for my actions. Personal responsibility is good theology and sound doctrine.

The Revival Theology Conference had a really good turn out. People came from all over. We had local brethren from the Lindale, Tyler, Garden Valley TX area. But people also came in from out of state like Arizona, Indiana, Oklahoma, and elsewhere. We were also blessed by a local church with a solid pastor who let us use their sanctuary!

Winkie Pratney was our keynote speaker on the opening night. He’s been in ministry for some 50 years or more. He’s traveled all over the world teaching the Bible, speaking to many churches and conferences every year. He’s especially worked closely with YWAM – Youth with a Mission. In his older age he can’t travel the way he used to so he called in via video call to address everyone. Winkie has written many wonderful books with good theology, like The Nature and Character of God, Youth Aflame, and many more. I’ve learned a lot of good theology from him. He’s one of the first people to turn me on to “Moral Government Theology.” Winkie was friends with the late Leonard Ravenhill and it was Winkie who first introduced Keith Green to the writings of Charles Finney as well.

We had many other wonderful guest speakers as well, like the late Jed Smock. Brother Jed always delivered stirring sermons, both on campuses in the open air and in Churches from the Pulpit. Jed has also written many great theological books on scriptures like Romans 6, 7, and 8. And Romans 9, 10, 11.

Other speakers included our friends at Chi Alpha like Pastor Eli from College Station and Pastor Kyle Volkmer from San Antonio. Everyone gave wonderful messages that I’m working on re-uploading to my YouTube channel.

This was a meeting between the older generation and the younger generation. A kind of passing of the torch, if you will.

At the end of the conference I delivered a message on “The Revival Theology of Charles G. Finney.” I highlighted various theological truths that contributed greatly to Finney’s success. While false doctrine hinders the salvation of souls, true doctrine helps bring sinners to repentance and usher them into the kingdom of God. Again, I’ll re-upload this sermon to My Youtube as time allows.

The best part of any Theology Conference is the Book Table! We had many good books available with solid theology. But even if you didn’t come to the conference, you can still check them out in our online bookstore! Click Here

One book in our Bookstore that you might be particularly interested in, which was essentially the theme of this conference, is ““The Secret of Success in the Ministry of Charles G. Finney” by Gordon C. Olson.” Check it out!

FUTURE CONFERENCES?

All in all the Revival Theology Conference was such a great success, I may consider doing another Moral Government Theology Conference in the future. If I do, I’ll be sure to let everyone know and you should come!

Calvinism Contradicts Scripture | Scriptural Problems with Calvinism

These are some of the major theological problems with Calvinism:

1. CALVINISM DENIES MAN’S FREE WILL

Calvinism denies man’s free will to obey or disobey God, which is the basis of man’s responsibility and accountability, as taught by the Bible: (Gen. 4:6-7; Deut. 11:26-28; 30:11-15, 19; Josh. 24:15; Jer. 38:20; Eze. 18:30; Acts 17:30-31);

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live” Deut. 30:19

Calvinists and Reformed Theologians have denied the truths of these scriptures by the following statements:

Augustine said, “By Adam’s transgression, the freedom of’ the human will has been completely lost.”

Augustine said, “By the greatness of the first sin, we have lost the freewill to love God.”

Augustine said, “by subverting the rectitude in which he was created, he is followed with the punishment of not being able to do right” and “the freedom to abstain from sin has been lost as a punishment of sin.”

Martin Luther said that “the law demands of men what they cannot do…”

Martin Luther said, “For if man has lost his freedom, and is forced to serve sin, and cannot will good, what conclusion can more justly be drawn concerning him, than that he sins and wills evil necessarily?”

2. CALVINISM DENIES PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY ALONE

Calvinism denies that each individual is responsible and accountable for their own sins committed in their own life, and will not be damned for the sins of anyone else, as the Bible teaches: (Lev. 18:29; Deut. 24:16; 2 Kng. 14:6; 2 Chron. 25:4; Eze. 18:2-6; Eze. 18:20; Jer. 17:10; Matt. 16:27; Rom. 2:5-6; Rom. 14:12; 2 Cor. 5:10; 2 Cor. 11:15; 1 Pet. 1:17; Rev. 20:11-12; Rev. 22:12);

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.” Ezekiel 18:20

Calvinists and Reformed Theologians have denied the truths of these scriptures by the following statements:

John Calvin stated, “Adam drew all his posterity with himself, by his fall, into eternal damnation.”

3. CALVINISM DENIES THE UNLIMITED ATONEMENT OF CHRIST

Calvinism denies that Christ died for everyone (Heb. 2:9; 2 Cor. 5:14-15; 1 Jn. 2:2), and His unlimited atonement does not make salvation automatic for anyone, but available for everyone (Jn. 3:14-17; 12:46; Acts 10:43; Rom. 10:11; Rev. 22:17), and that those for whom Christ died can still perish (Rom. 14:15; 1 Cor. 8:11; 2 Pet. 2:1); as the Bible teaches.

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” Hebrews 2:9

Calvinists and Reformed Theologians have denied the truths of these scriptures by the following statements:

Custance said, “No man can be held accountable for a debt that has already been paid for on his behalf to the satisfaction of the offended party. But a double jeopardy, a duplication of indebtedness, is indeed involved if the non-elect are to be punished for sins which the Lord Jesus Christ has already endured punishment.”

Boettner said, “For God to have laid the sins of all men on Christ would mean that as regards to the lost He would be punishing their sins twice, once in Christ, and then again in them.”

Wayne Grudem said, “Reformed people argue that if Christ’s death actually paid for the sins of every person who ever lived, then there is no penalty left for anyone to pay, and it necessarily follows that all people will be saved, without exception. For God could not condemn to eternal punishment anyone whose sins are already paid for: that would be demanding double payment, and it would therefore be unjust.”

Joshua Williamson said, “If Christ died for everyone, everyone would be saved.”

4. CALVINISM DENIES THE LOVE OF GOD

Calvinism denies the universal benevolence or love of God, which wants all sinners to repent and be saved as taught by the Bible: (Eze. 33:11; John 3:14-17; 2 Pet. 3:19);

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent” Acts 17:30

Calvinists and Reformed Theologians have denied the truths of these scriptures by the following statements:

John Calvin said, “not only was the destruction of the ungodly foreknown, but the ungodly themselves have been created for the specific purpose of perishing.”

John Calvin said, “First, the eternal predestination of God, by which before the fall of Adam He decreed what should take place concerning the whole human race and every individual, was fixed and determined.”

John Calvin said, “At this point in particular the flesh rages when it hears that the predestination to death of those who perish is referred to the will of God.”

Alan Kurschner said, “God desires that his sheep are saved. God desires that his people are saved. He does not desire that every single individual who has ever lived, live in glory with him forever. If that were the case, we have an incompetent, unhappy, and impotent God.”

Matthew McMahon said, “I reject anything which makes God a cosmic bell-hop tending to the commands and demands of sinful men as another gospel. I reject anything which removes God’s sovereignty to place man as the Sovereign as another gospel. I reject anything which denies the sovereign decrees of God and His electing grace to put salvation into the hands of sinful men as another gospel. I reject anything which denies man’s total depravity and exalts his fictitious free will as another gospel. I reject anything which places the perseverance of man to glory in the incapable hands of a sinful man as another gospel. I reject anything which endeavors to treat God as the great Grandfather in the sky beckoning and pleading with man to be saved as changing the true God into a pitiable wimp.”

Erwin Lutzer said, “The revealed will was that all men be saved, but the hidden will was that the greater part of mankind be damned.”

John Calvin said, “His secret counsel, by which He determined to convert none but His elect.”

John MacArthur, comments: “His patience is not so He can save all of them, but so that He can receive all of His own…”

5. CALVINISM DENIES THE CONDITIONAL SECURITY OF BELIEVERS

Calvinism denies the conditional security of believers or the possibility of falling away from the faith as taught by the Bible (Matt. 24:13; Jn. 15:6; Acts 11:23; Acts 13:43; Acts 14:22; Rom. 8:13; Rom. 11:20-21; 1 Cor. 9:27; Heb. 2:1-3; Heb. 10:26-31; 2 Pet. 2:20-21);

“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” 1 Corinthians 9:27

Calvinists and Reformed Theologians have denied the truths of these scriptures by the following statements:

Martin Luther said, “Be a sinner and sin boldly… No sin can separate us from Him, even if we were to kill or commit adultery thousands of times each day.”

Westminster Confession of Faith said, “They whom God hath accepted in His Beloved, effectually called and sanctified by his Spirit, can neither totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace; but shall certainly persevere therein to the end, and be eternally saved.”

6. CALVINISM DENIES MAN’S ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY IN SALVATION

Calvinism denies man’s role, responsibility, and choice to cooperate with God in regeneration or in the changing of his heart as taught by the Bible (Deut. 10:16; Eze. 18:30-32; Ps. 78:8; Ps. 95:8; Heb. 3:15; Act 7:51; 17:30-31; Jas. 4:8; Col. 3:9-10; Eph. 4:22, 24; 1 Tim. 4:16).

“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:20

Calvinists and Reformed Theologians have denied the truths of these scriptures by the following statements:

Martin Luther said, “I say that man… when he is re-created does and endeavors nothing towards his perseverance in that kingdom; but the Spirit alone works both blessings in us, regenerating us, and preserving us when regenerate, without ourselves…”

A. W. Pink said, “The new birth is solely the work of God the Spirit and man has no part in it.”

7. CALVINISM DENIES GOD’S POWER TO DELIVER FROM SIN

Calvinism denies that there is deliverance available from all sin in Jesus Christ, or the possibility of overcoming sin in this life by the grace of God as taught by the Bible (Matt. 1:21; Jn. 8:36; Rom. 6:18, 20, 22; 8:2; 1 Cor. 10:13; 1 Thes. 3:13; 1 Thes. 5:23; Titus 2:11-12; Jude 1:24; 1 Tim. 6:14; 1 Jn. 1:9; 3:9).

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” Jude 1:24

Calvinists and Reformed Theologians have denied the truths of these scriptures by the following statements:

The Westminster Catechism says, “No man is able, either of himself, or by any grace received in this life, perfectly to keep the commandments of God; but does daily break them in word, thought, and deed.”

8. CALVINISM TEACHES SALVATION IN SIN NOT FROM SIN

Calvinism denies that man’s choice to repent of all his sins is a necessary condition of forgiveness, but rather teaches that justification by grace through faith is nothing more than justification in sin and impenitence (Antinomianism), as opposed to what the Bible teaches: (Isa. 55:7; Eze. 18:30; Prov. 28:13; Matt. 7:21; 19:17; Lk. 13:3; Acts 8:22; Rom. 2:5; 6:1-2; Titus 2:1112; Jude 1:4; Rev. 22:14).

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

Calvinists and Reformed Theologians have denied the truths of these scriptures by the following statements:

Charles Spurgeon said, “You must not expect that you will be perfect in ‘repentance’ before you are saved. No Christian can be perfect. “Repentance” is a grace. Some people preach it as a condition of salvation. Condition of nonsense! There are no conditions of salvation. God gives the salvation himself…”

Harry Ironside said, “The Gospel is not a call to repentance, or to amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past … Nor is the Gospel a demand that you give up the world, that you give up your sins, that you break off bad habits, and try to cultivate good ones. You may do all these things, and yet never believe the Gospel and consequently never be saved at all.”

9. CALVINISM TEACHES GOD IS THE AUTHOR OF SIN

Calvinism denies that God is not the author of sin, nor the sovereign cause of its entrance into the world, as taught by the Bible (Gen. 1:31; 6:5-6; 1 Sam. 15:22; Jer. 19:5, 32:35; Isa. 5:4; Zeph. 3:5; Ecc. 7:29; Matt. 6:10; Lk. 7:30; 1 Cor. 14:33; Heb. 1:9, James 1:13).

“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man” James 1:13

Calvinists and Reformed Theologians have denied the truths of these scriptures by the following statements:

Martin Luther said, “Since, therefore, God moves and does all in all, He necessarily moves and does all in Satan and the wicked man…”

Martin Luther said, “God worketh all things in all men even wickedness in the wicked…”

John Calvin said, “Whatever things are done wrongly and unjustly by man, these very things are the right and just works of God.”

There are many other orthodox doctrines which are taught in the Scriptures and which were held by all of the Early Church which are denied by Augustinian and Reformed Theology, but the above is sufficient for this article.

As much as Calvinism claims to be orthodox, its doctrines are utterly opposed to the doctrines of the Early Church Fathers before Augustine, and they have more in common with the heretical teachings of the Gnostics and Manicheans.

Sadly, many Calvinist groups function as a cult today, claiming exclusively that Calvinism is Christianity, that their doctrine of T.U.L.I.P. is the gospel itself, and that anyone who disagrees with their doctrine is a “heretic,” “false teacher,” or “false convert.” They are quick to break fellowship with, and falsely accuse, any Christian that contradicts their own theology.

I have always found it interesting that these groups will hail John Calvin as a hero, but will label Charles Finney a heretic. Charles Finney was America’s greatest revivalist, who lead a quarter of a million people to the Lord. The vast majority of his converts stayed in the faith until their dying day, unlike other evangelists like D. L. Moody or Billy Graham, who’s converts mostly fell away. John Calvin on the other hand had excommunicated and even killed countless individuals. Calvinists overlook this and often seek to justify it, while they are quick to condemn Finney because he used “altar calls.” I can supply story after story of Finney winning sinners to Christ, but Calvinists have been unable to provide for me even a single story of John Calvin ever personally leading a sinner to Jesus. There are plenty of stories of John Calvin burning sinners at the stake, but not a single one of him leading souls to Christ like Charles Finney did. Yet, they exalt Calvin as a hero and criticize Finney for calling sinners to repentance at the altar.

OUTREACH REPORT

MISSION TRIP TO MONTREAL CANADA

A brother in Canada got me a plane ticket to come to Montreal Canada and spend some time with him in fellowship and outreach. He’s been watching my YouTube videos for a couple years and just started street preaching himself. I found out that he’s been preaching all summer long in the streets of Montreal and even raised up a team of friends to do it with him. When I was going through the border crossing I had to go through extra screening because I am in their system as a preacher who has gone to Pride events in Canada to preach repentance. I had to spend 3-4 hours at customs answering lots of questions. They searched my phone, my computer, and all my bags. They asked if I was going to a Pride event and I said no. And I told them that I have NEVER been arrested in Canada though I have visited Canada once or even twice a year for over a decade. They asked if I was going to be doing any preaching while in Canada and I told them, “That’s just who I am. I talk to people about Jesus everywhere I go. If I stay here too long, I’ll start talking to you guys about Jesus too.” They even asked me, “What is your message?” And I got to talk to the border agents about sin, hell, Jesus, repentance, salvation, etc. They said, “That doesn’t sound so bad.” Praise God they eventually let me in to Canada and I was able to spend a blessed time with the Christian brothers and sisters in that country.

Prayer Walking the City

The first thing we did was walk around the city for some prayer walking and seeing the sites. Montreal is a very old city with some beautiful architecture and gorgeous churches. Here are some of the photographs I took of the City: 70505296_10156558887731765_8738230707400212480_n 71209086_10156558887701765_7923789455062728704_n 70706930_10156558887581765_2889288559456419840_n70540404_10156558887706765_844973165527433216_n 70891315_10156558887571765_2282356019210223616_n70558332_10156558887591765_4065485939244269568_n 70400266_10156558887816765_4377818383370944512_n70702417_10156558887586765_5162556062796087296_n 71394610_10156561087701765_1797857307057455104_n These Churches are the remnant of days gone by – times of the past when the community was full of church goers. These beautiful buildings were built by generations of faithful givers to the church. It’s sad that many of these gorgeous churches are relatively empty today. Throughout Europe there are gorgeous old cathedrals which reflect the faith of past generations, which are now being turned into night clubs! A church that isn’t growing is dying.

Montreal City Metro

71310076_10156558657556765_5998525589596667904_n

Our first outreach was to the busy city metro. Crowds of people come and go to catch the buses and subways, plus the park has lots of people that just seem to hang around. This is the type of place where I first started my ministry back in Connecticut 20 years ago. It brought back good memories!

70764835_10156558657431765_6493324045642104832_n

70612801_10156558657456765_6623197805064224768_n Pastor Andrew is a local friend and contact that I have in the area. He came to Montreal to join us at this metro station with members of his church. It was wonderful to arrive at the park and find that he was already busy open-air preaching! I wish every Pastor would preach on the street with his congregation! Screen Shot 2019-09-27 at 10.41.54 PMScreen Shot 2019-09-27 at 10.42.05 PM When I started preaching I was able to get the attention of a crowd of young inner city kids. Preaching about gangster rap music, puffing on blunts and sipping on Gin and Juice always does that. Once I started talking their language, they were all ears. Screen Shot 2019-09-27 at 10.43.00 PMScreen Shot 2019-09-27 at 10.43.11 PMScreen Shot 2019-09-27 at 10.43.31 PM This girl was one of my best hecklers at the park. She loved the attention and the camera. She was loud and boisterous, had a filthy mouth and played tough, but I could tell she was really listening and absorbing what I was saying. She wasn’t violent or disrespectful. I shared my testimony with everyone and it planted many seeds.

St. Catherine Nightlife

This is a busy section of downtown in front of a church with a very large sidewalk that is perfect for street preaching. The metro system drops and picks people up right here. Many corners in Montreal have busy foot traffic but this is one of the best places for street preaching. Screen Shot 2019-09-27 at 11.12.07 PM

The team had a nice speaker and microphone that my host had been using for his outreaches.

The advantage of a speaker system is not only that you can be heard despite all the inner city noise, but you can also speak softly into the microphone at opportune times.

Once a nice crowd was gathered, I was able to do some street apologetics. Asking questions like, “Who wrote the genetic code?” and “What is the meaning of life?” are great conversation starts for street apologetics. This is the best part of street preaching – praying with lost souls! This woman heard our preaching and felt the conviction of her conscience. She said her life was a real mess and asked us for prayer. Please pray for her! Pray that she’ll repent of any and all sin in her life, trust in Christ and live holy, and that God will bless her abundantly and give her the life He always intended for her to live!

McGill University

70375568_10156560610471765_5517202799600861184_n McGill is a university in the city that has this perfect city sidewalk to street preach on. I don’t think anyone has ever preached here to this campus before! We stirred up the campus with our hell-fire preaching. 68658411_10156560610511765_1389118515176275968_n I gathered a nice little crowd of students and engaged them in dialog back and forth. After maybe an hour and a half of preaching I turned the crowd over to some other brothers on the team. We had one female heckler who really didn’t like our message of repentance. She thought we were being intolerant and so she called the Cops on us – which of course was her being intolerant of our practice of religion! 71325275_10156560610726765_4678452457569779712_n 70387832_10156560610756765_8185506276541726720_n When the Police showed up, they got some information from her and from us and realized that we were fine and within our rights. The Police spent most of their time talking to the woman who called, just trying to calm her down. I’ve always had a pretty good experience with the Canadian Police, with only a few exceptions.

St Catherine Day time

70888138_10156558657661765_7785339625203040256_n 70794201_10156563183636765_8222246255720398848_n When we arrived to preach outside of St Catherines during the day time, we found that there were already multiple street preaching groups out there from other churches! That is always a nice thing to happen. Usually street corners are empty and bare and in need of a street preacher. Occasionally, in certain locations at certain times, there aren’t enough street corners for everyone! That’s a good problem to have! Screen Shot 2019-09-27 at 11.07.38 PM While other groups were preaching at the busy street corners, I went in front of the church and began preaching towards the staircase. I always like preaching towards a large staircase because it offers a crowd a nice place to sit and get comfortable. If you can get a large crowd to sit down in front of you, you really have their attention and they will stay for a while. Screen Shot 2019-09-27 at 11.12.50 PM This man came up to talk to me and was very serious about the things of God. He was under conviction. He confessed to me some horrible sins he has done. I was able to pray for him. Say a prayer for him if you can.

Sunday Morning & Evening Church Service

70669229_10156566854241765_6830510675236749312_n Pastor Andrew invited me to speak to his church for the morning and evening service. I went through Romans 7 verse by verse and explained it’s true meaning – that the law aggravates sin and doesn’t set us free from sin, but the gospel does. The Gospel accomplishes what the law cannot. Romans 7 is not the Christian life but taken in context with Romans 8, outlines the experience of being convicted by the law in order to be set free by the Gospel. 70935824_10156566858256765_6904914051562733568_n In between the morning and evening service, the church got together for a fellowship dinner! Breaking bread with the brethren! This is how church is supposed to be!

Bible Study outside City Skyline

70925028_10156567792566765_2644043770781237248_n I’m blessed to be able to travel and bring the gospel all over the world. As I travel, I visit some pretty cool and beautiful places. A few years ago it dawned on me, I can take advantage of these scenic locations to start filming Bible Studies for my Youtube channel! My friend took me to a park that had a great skyline view of the city of Montreal. Screen Shot 2019-09-26 at 1.29.21 PM 70978847_10156567850921765_1231284226599419904_n 71833112_10156567850966765_5636526199493623808_n In this Bible Study I went through 1 John, which is a great refutation to Gnosticism. Unfortunately, a lot of people misuse verses in 1 John because they ignore both the immediate context of those verse and the historical context in which they were written. You can watch this Bible Study on my YouTube channel.

OUTREACH REPORT

Every year Anchorage hosts an opening ceremony for the annual Iditarod Dog Sled Race!  This race helps preserve dog sledding and commemorates the 1925 run to Nome Alaska to bring medical serum to treat an outbreak of diphtheria. Balto is the famous dog that lead the original run. This was the 50th Year Anniversary.

I invited the street preaching community to join me here in Alaska for this outreach, offering free food, lodging, and transportation, but it appears everyone was too afraid of the cold. It was 16 degrees during our outreach. But one faithful brother, my friend David Grisham, showed up for the preach. He came straight from his Mardi Gras outreach. The two of us hit the streets together before, during, and after the event.

My family and I are staying in Alaska for an extended mission trip and I packed light for myself since we are a family of six and needed the extra space for the kids. I didn’t bring any of my signs and banners so instead, I ordered a new sign online and had it mailed! It was less than $100, printing and shipping.

I made it double sided with two different scriptures. The front was Acts 26:20 “Repent, turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.” This was the message God told Paul to preach to the Gentiles. I especially like the emphasis on repenting and then proving your repentance with your works. The back of the sign was 2 Corinthians 5:10: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…” You can’t go wrong with Scripture Signs!

The day before the race we went downtown but surprisingly, there were very few people walking around. David passed out tracts and talked to people while I held my sign and also street preached a little. The people we did encounter were mostly tourists from out of state who came in for the race.

It was a very warm week leading up to the Race and the snow everywhere was melting and disappearing. In order to have snow for the event, for the dog sleds to ride on, the city used dump trucks the night before to fill the streets with snow. However, on the day of the event, it started to snow long and hard. In no time, snow was everywhere. It snowed about 12 inches. And the people came out to watch the ceremony in big crowds despite the cold and snow.

If you stood in the snow for a little while, your head and shoulders would quickly get a pile of snow. Since we were going to be outside for a few hours in the cold we wanted to stay dry as best we could. We found a nice overhang to stand under which was the perfect location. Crowded of people, tourists from all over the world, walked up and down the street.

I held my “Repent, turn to God, and do works meet for repentance” sign. David passed out “Free Iditarod Souvenirs,” a post card with a Dog Sled Team on the front and a Gospel message on the back!

These gospel tracts went like hot cakes! I would estimate a ratio of about 3 to 1 for acceptance and rejection. If one person rejected the tract, three more accepted it. David passed out hundreds and hundreds of these to all the tourists. We talked to people from Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, etc. And at the end of the event, the tracts were not paving the street! We saw people hours later who were still holding on to their “Free Iditarod Souvenir.” People even took extra for their family and friends!

That’s a successful outreach! I was very happy to be apart of the 50th Anniversary of this historic event! What a blessing!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

It was 17 years ago, March 1st 2005, that my wife and I started our courtship relationship! That’s the longest relationship I’ve ever been in. Haha. At 37 years old, we’ve been together almost half of my life! So glad the Lord picked my wife Krista to be my wife and to raise our children together. Her strengths make up for my weaknesses and she is exactly what I was looking for and what I needed. She is a priceless blessing to my family and I.

ALASKA MISSION TRIP

Alaska

Finally catching up on my newsletters again! Our mission trip to Alaska!

God sent me  to Alaska for five years in a row! This was mission trip number five!

Alaska is a real mission field with a lot of lost souls. Anchorage in particular has a very high crime rate, with marijuana dispensary stores all over the place, and a large homeless population. There’s also remote villages where the natives lives.

I’ve never preached downtown Anchorage without being assaulted. That’s how much of a mission field it is!

What makes Alaska a unique ministry trip for me is that the whole family gets to come. My host home in Alaska has always been kind enough to invite the whole family! What a blessing!

UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA, ANCHORAGE

The University of Alaska in Anchorage rarely ever gets a campus preacher, unless I come to town. Five years in a row I have started my campus preaching tour on this campus at the beginning of each semester. Usually I go to campuses with friends but on this particular day, I went armed only with my Bible and the Holy Spirit. That meant that I couldn’t get any video of the outreach, but I did get audio which I uploaded to YouTube.

After just a little bit of preaching, I was able to get a nice little crowd together in front of the cafeteria. The main topic I wanted to talk about was Atheism, as I was freshly armed with an Intelligent Design argument from DNA from a 700 page book I had just read. This gave me perfect material for campus!

The argument is that the specified arrangement of nucleotide bases in the genetic code requires an intelligent mind for the same reason that an intelligent arrangement of letters on a page does. Letters can be arranged in any random order but for them to mean something, an intelligent mind has to arrangement them in a particular order. That’s the difference between “Siemhta si Uitpds” and “Atheism is Stupid.” The same is true with the genetic code.

Ive shared this argument on many campuses and have never had an atheist refute it. They don’t even try.

INDEPENDENCE MINE

Alaska2

Independence Mine is an old abandoned gold mining operation that has been turned into an Alaskan State Park.

Set high up a mountain, it has a beautiful view.

As you can see, this place is perfect for a family hike!

It’s also perfect for family pictures!

But more importantly, great scenery to film a YouTube Bible Study!

I filmed a Bible teaching here called, “The Greatest Heresy on YouTube – Repent of Your Sins is Works Based Salvation.”

I explained in the video how dangerous it is to confuse repentance and works. The Bible distinguishes between the two. “Bring forth fruit meet for repentance” it says. And also, “Repent, turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.”

False teachers today try to do away with the requirement of repentance for salvation by falsely categorizing it as “works,” so that they can say “repent of your sins is works based salvation.” What a demonic deception this is!

I’m currently working on re-uploading all my YouTube videos, including this one. Keep a look out for it and subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven’t already.

And why film only one Bible Study at this beautiful location when you can film two?

I found another great location with fog rolling in over the mountain and filmed, “Why I Believe in the Trinity! God in Three Persons!” just in time before the fog covered everything!

Fog certainly has a mysterious feel to it and the Trinity is possibly the greatest mystery about God.

ALASKA STATE FAIR

When you bring the whole family, it’s just Outreaches and Bible Studies but Family Fun time too!

Here you can see my youngest daughter Mikaela enjoying the petting zoo!

The Alaskan State Fair brings in people from all over Alaska and entertainers from all over the United States.

One of our favorites is the Lumber Jack show which we enjoy with our host home every year.

DRIVE TO FAIRBANKS ALASKA

While I’ve been to Anchorage Alaska many times, Fairbanks is a place I had never been to before.

The University of Alaska in Fairbanks was on my bucket list of campuses I’ve wanted to preach on.

The drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks is over six hours, especially with children, but its a beautiful drive that is well worth it!

See what I mean? Gorgeous scenic driving!

And then we saw the Batmobile that looked like it was straight out of the 1960’s TV show… so we stopped to get a picture of that too.

Mt. Denali is the highest mountain peak in North America! You can see it on your drive to Fairbanks from Anchorage. Of course the family had to stop to see that. This was a great Homeschool Field Trip for the kids!

ABORTION CLINIC, FAIRBANKS

The first place we preached in Fairbanks was outside of the Abortion Clinic!

I had a couple of brothers that joined me on these outreaches and one brother, David Grisham, brought his Grim Reaper costume. That was perfect for getting our message across outside of Planned Parenthood.

Of course, when you are protesting abortion in a Grim Reaper costume in Fairbanks Alaska, the Police are bound to show up. Planned Parenthood called them. But they were fair and nice. They said as long as we were on the public sidewalk there’s no problem. It’s because we took the Social Media picture at the front door that Planned Parenthood called. But that was just our photo location. The rest of the time we were on the sidewalk.

UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA, FAIRBANKS

Finally I made it to the University of Alaska in Fairbanks…. and the campus was dead. And I mean dead dead. There was hardly anyone walking around. And the class changes seemed short, small, and few.

We would start preaching and would preach for an hour or two before we finally got a little attention. But once some students came out to protest us with their rainbow flag, it was all over. That was all we needed to stir up a lot more students to come and listen.

Typically when you preach on a campus that has never seen a campus preacher before, students don’t know how to react. Sometimes these campuses can be shy. They don’t know or understand that with this sort of thing, heckling is encouraged. Heckling is what we were going for. We want the students to heckle us. We want them to engage us in public debate. We want to create a scene and stir things up. And once the students realize that, they start having fun and stay for hours.

It was nice to have a brother to tag team preach with. I can preach by myself for 5-7 hours but don’t prefer it. I’d rather share the crowd with a brother and preach 1-3 hours before rotating.

And just like the University of Alaska in Anchorage, I argued against Atheism using the Intelligently Designed DNA argument. And just like in Anchorage, not a single atheist even tried to refute it.

NORTHERN LIGHT SHOW

Fairbanks is a great location to see the Northern Lights. We had seen some while in Anchorage, off in the distance, but nothing like this. We prayed for the Lord to give us some great Northern Lights and these danced right over our host home for maybe 3 hours!

They kept coming and at one point was thick over our heads like a fog covering the entire sky. I never expected to see so many Northern Lights. And to have them last for hours! It was the Lord blessing us with a glimpse of His beauty and glory.

This is one of my favorite pictures that I took. It looks kind of like a Dove to me. It was at this moment that I felt the Lord say, “Point your camera straight up now and take one.” I did. And this is how it turned out. Beautiful.

QUICK VISIT TO THE NORTH POLE

North Pole Alaska! The North Pole is real! It’s a town in Alaska. And my kids got to enjoy it!

FATHER AND SON NATURE HIKE

My primary ministry is to my family, to my wife, daughters, and son.

Justice is my one and only son so it’s always special when we get to hang out just the two of us.

FILMING MORE BIBLE STUDIES

With so many great scenic locations in Alaska to film Bible Studies, I had to film some more.

This one was about, “Does God violate Free Will in Salvation?”

I showed from Scripture how God commands us, leads us, teaches us, influences us, convicts us, enlightens us, etc. But He does not force us. He treats us as free moral agents and uses means consistent with our free will to bring us to repentance.

I filmed another one here on “Can You Lose Your Salvation.” This one is on YouTube right now.

This is a “Open Theism Bible Study” by the lake. I got to enjoy some hot tea while the sun was setting. I was glad I was able to film before the sun completely set! But by the end of the video, it was pretty dark. This one is on YouTube as well. It talks about God in relation to time and sequence. God is active in history.

FLIGHT BACK HOME TO TEXAS

As you can see, traveling through the airports with four children is pretty fun…. and difficult…. at the same time.

MISSION UPDATE

As many of you already know, we are on an extended missionary trip to Alaska! We will be here the majority of 2022! We landed in Anchorage safely almost a month ago.

Anchorage has one of the highest crime rates in the country. I’ve preached here in years past and every time I’ve preached downtown Anchorage I am physically attacked and assaulted. You see a lot of homeless people walking around, out of their minds on drugs and alcohol. And now that marijuana is legal in Alaska, you see pot dispensary shops all over the city.

Alaska is rip for a work of God in the streets!

FAMILY OUTREACH

Our friends who have live in Alaska for a long time made a float to be in the local Christmas parade this year. In the past they noticed the Christmas parade had very little to do with God so they made a Nativity Float! And they made Gospel Scrolls to pass out to everyone with the candy!

We walked the streets as a family and loved seeing our children passing out the Gospel literature and the candy to everyone. Thousands of people came to the Christmas parade and we got to reach them all with the good news of the Birth of Christ!

Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to reach the lost with the good news of the Birth, Life, Death, and Resurrection of Christ!

Your prayers and support are helping change the world!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

This year I am incredibly thankful for all of our faithful supporters – our prayer partners and financial givers!

It’s been your kindness and generosity that makes our ministry possible!

Looking back over the past year, we’ve had an amazing time of ministry.

We were able to bring the gospel to places like Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alaska, and Virginia!

Every month I get messages like:

“Thank you for your ministry! I started out as a mocker watching your videos but now I’m a believer!”

“Your ministry saved my life and my marriage!”

“Your preaching got me through drug withdrawals in rehab!”

“I started street preaching because of your ministry!”

God is on the move! He is changing lives! And He is raising up more laborers for the harvest field!

I’ve been diligently working to get over 1,000 outreach videos back up on our YouTube channel because these videos reach people from all over the world!

Right now, my family and I are preparing for an extended mission trip to Alaska!

I started my street ministry at the bus stops in the streets of New England during the winters. I’m excited to be preaching in the snow again!

Anchorage is a city that really needs a move of God, especially on the streets, as it is full of drugs, alcohol, homelessness, etc.

We leave in a week for our family mission trip. I am excited about the kids being more involved in the ministry now that they are getting older!

We need more financial supporters!

As a family of six, battling the ever increasing prices from inflation, we are in need of more financial givers to our ministry.

Especially during the Holiday season, our support really slows down.

If you have been blessed by our ministry and you want to help get behind what God is doing, would you consider becoming a monthly supporter or giving a one-time donation?

As a missionary family, we live by faith as God puts it on the hearts of people to help support the mission.

You can also give by mail if you prefer!

If you would like to get a 2021 tax break for your financial giving, make checks out to Crossroads Community Church. Or make checks out to “Jesse Morrell” if you’d like them to just be personal gifts.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you so much for your prayers and your financial support in 2020! We had such a fruitful year of ministry and you helped make it possible!

Despite the shutdowns this year, we still were able to reach thousands of people with the Gospel and continued to receive testimony after testimony every month of people coming to the Lord through our ministry.

Here are some recent testimonies:

Every month this year I got lots of amazing messages like these from people all over the country and all over the world. God is on the move! Lives are being changed! The Kingdom of Heaven is advancing! And it is your support that helps to make this ministry possible!

Our financial support did suffer this pandemic year as many of our supporters had to cancel their monthly donations. Your support is needed more than ever and helps to make a bigger impact than we have ever made before, as our ministry continues to grow and reach more people than ever before.

We pray that the Lord bless and prosper you abundantly in 2021 and that you continue to be a blessing to the Kingdom of God! We are looking forward to another fruitful year of ministry partnering with you.

Thanks again!

NEED AN END OF THE YEAR TAX BREAK FOR 2020?

What a fruitful year it’s been with lots of testimonies of people coming to the Lord through our ministry!
We couldn’t do this without help from the body of Christ!

With the help of a local church, you can donate to our mission and receive a tax break from the government.

While any donations that are sent to us, made out to “Jesse and Krista Morrell,” are still personal gifts (and still a good way to give), any checks that you send to us made out to “Crossroads Community Church” will be tax deductible!

The mailing address is still the same:

PO Box 1527
Lindale Tx 75771.

But whether you make the check out to “Jesse Morrell” or “Crossroads Community Church” will determine tax deductibility.

Crossroads Community Church
PO Box 1527
Lindale TX 75771.

That’s our ministry P.O. Box and we will deposit those checks into our missionary bank account with the church.

You can also wire a donation straight from your bank into our church account, if that is what you prefer. Just let us know!

Thanks again to all our supporters! Your giving is really changing the world and advancing the kingdom of God. As you can tell from my monthly email newsletters, we are seeing a harvest of lost souls repent and come to Christ! We couldn’t do all the things that we do without help from the body of Christ!

The National Street Preachers Conference & James White Refuted

THE NATIONAL

STREET PREACHERS CONFERENCE

This was the second annual national street preachers conference that our ministry hosted. It was a year ago in 2019. We had also planned a 2020 conference but Texas went into lockdown one week before the conference was scheduled. I am still one year behind on my newsletters but hope to catch up through December before 2021 hits!

I got this email right before the street preacher conference:

“PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS APRIL 11-12. NONE OF US WANT YOU HERE. YOU WILL NOT CHANGE ANYONES MINDS.

HAIL SATAN”

I knew that if Satan didn’t want this conference to happen, we had to do it!

I had just emailed the Police & Local News about the Conference:

Dear Denton Police Department,

I just wanted to give you the “heads up” that The National Street Preachers Conference is returning to Denton, specifically the streets around UNT, on April 11th-12th.

We did some street preaching there last year in March and had a big turn out. One Officer estimated maybe 1,000 students gathered to listen, if you count both sides of the street. Even the news helicopter came out each day.

Crowds that size are not usual when we preach but you never know what will happen this year.

We just want to stand on the public sidewalks and share our message peacefully with the students who are interested. Like last year, we will likely break up into small group discussions.

We will be on West Highland St, facing the Mall staircase April 11th and 12th from 11:30am – 4:00pm.

Just wanted you to know in advance for any logistics on your part that need to be prepared.

Thank you for your service.

God bless,

Jesse Morrell

If you think the Christian life is boring, you are doing it wrong!

The Conference brought in brethren from all over the country. We would have sessions at church each morning, outreaches every afternoon, then sessions in church again after dinner. And sometimes we would also have late night outreaches too.

Our main outreach was at the University of North Texas in Denton. I’ve been visiting this campus for outreaches since 2005. During our first conference, we caused such a big stir on campus that the local news helicopter hovered above us for two days. This year, we drew the same kind of crowd. Our crowds would consist of anyone from 500 people up to 1,000 people. We would have about 30 street preachers out there and each preacher would have a nice “small group” crowd around them, discussing and debating the things of God.

During our sessions in church, we encourage each other and enjoy the fellowship. We also learn different apologetics and evangelism tips. We hear from a diversity of speakers and each personality adds different character to the conference. This is how the body of Christ is meant to be, unifying our different personalities and skills for a single purpose – winning souls for Christ!

REBUKING GNOSTIC HERESY

During our outreach, a local Gnostic cult leader named Emilio Ramos came out to confront us. He was not happy that we were on “his turf” as he frequents this came to spread his false gospel.

He also seemed very jealous that we were able to draw such a large crowd when nobody really stops to listen to him when he goes out there. This difference is due to the fact that true Christians can boldly confront sin, which draws a crowd, because they are living a holy life. But fake Christians cannot boldly confront the sin of a campus, without glaring hypocrisy, because they themselves are still sinning every day in word, thought, and deed.

My debate with the heretic Emilio revolved around the question, “Is Sin God’s Plan? Was Sin God’s idea?” Emilios heretic doctrine states that sin was God’s idea, before He ever created mankind, and that He created mankind to sin every day – that this was His plan. I refuted this with Genesis 6:5-6, which states God regretting making mankind all together when He saw how sinful they had become. Man was created for holiness, not sin. Salvation is God’s plan, which saves men from sin. Sin is the enemy, not the plan.

It’s one thing to say God anticipates man’s sin and makes His plans accordingly, like a grandmaster in chess does. But it’s a completely different thing to say that sin is God’s plan. That is pagan heresy – that everything that happens is God’s will. And Gnostic heresy – denying that God creates all of us with free will so that we can choose between good and evil.

I’m working on re-uploading all my Youtube videos soon and I’ll be sure to add my encounter with Emilio soon. “Doctor” James White came to Emilio’s aid, because Emilio did such a poor job defending his position. James White defends Gnostic heresy, re-labeled as Reformed Theology or Calvinism, but White did no better than Emilio did.

I filmed a response to James White in my studio, which got about 20,000 views the first time I uploaded it. I’ll be re-uploading that soon. Its a fairly exhaustive refutation to this blatant heresy, being 9 hours long! Check my Youtube for updates for when it’s available again.

This was positive feedback I received for my video response to James White. Again, check my Youtube for when the video is available again!

“Open Air Preaching Across America: THE MOVIE” is another film I’ll be re-uploading soon to my Youtube. Stay tuned!

TESTIMONIES of a FRUITFUL Ministry!

I just got an encouraging phone call from a pastor of 25 years. He’s been watching our videos and they have been edifying him greatly, and making him laugh. He’s a bit tired after 25 years but our ministry has given him more energy and zeal for the next year than he’s had in a long time. Praise God!

“Brother Jesse, im from Malaysia. Thank you for your hard work and labour in rebuking sin and preaching the gospel. You have encouraged me to be holy so much. Will be praying for u.” Jackie Lee

“I didn’t even know we were friends on Facebook, for the longest time I’ve been watching your videos and being encouraged through your obedience and faithfulness to God keep up the good work you’re inspiring people without you even knowing it that hate to be lukewarm by being around people who are, it’s not easy that’s for sure” TY

Whoever thinks “Street Preaching doesn’t work” certainly hasn’t read the emails that I have read! When you have a faithful ministry of keeping your hand to the plow, you will have a steady stream of fruit and testimonies. That has been my experience for 20 years now.
