Pastor Steven Anderson of “Faithful Word Baptist Church” says that “repentance” is “works” and therefore “You don’t have to repent of your sins to be saved.” And “Repent of your sins is heresy.”
This is gross error! The Bible makes a distinction between repentance and works:
Act 26:20 – But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should REPENT and turn to God, and do WORKS meet for repentance.
Works follow repentance but repentance is not a work. It is a change of mind – in relation to sin it is a change of mind about sinning.
A change of mind about your actions always results in a change of works, which is why the Bible says:
Jon 3:10 – And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Pastor Steven Anderson misunderstands Jonah 3:10 and falsely categories repentance as works and then concludes you don’t have to repent of your sins to be saved.
This is DAMNABLE HERESY.
They say all you have to do is repent of unbelief to be saved, not any other sins in your life. But unbelief is a sin. So even Steven Anderson says you must repent of sin to be saved! The sin of unbelief!
The Bible does say you must repent of your sins as a precondition to forgiveness:
Acts 8:22 – Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee
Acts 2:38 – Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Galatians 1:8 – But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach another gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

The Heresy of Matt Slick of CARM by Jesse Morrell | “A person does not need to forsake his sin in order to be saved” Matt Slick
The sinner is carnally minded and the carnal mind is enmity with God (Rom. 8:7), so the sinner must repent (change his mind) in order to be reconciled to God. That is, the sinner must change his mind about living a carnal sinful life. As long as he is carnally minded, he is at enmity with God and that enmity doesn’t cease until he changes his mind through repentance.
